On Thursday 13th September it will be Roald Dahl’s 102nd birthday and the official Roald Dahl Day! Across the country, schools will be dressing up as The Twits, making sweets like Willy Wonka and learning more about how the Giant Peach managed to host so many animals. There are a whole host of Roald Dahl Day resources out there – from videos to lesson plans and quizzes, there’s bound to be something your class will love!
Into Film created a whole host of resources to celebrate Dahl’s 100th birthday last year, and they are all still relevant for this year. There are film adaptations, quizzes and mini clips and best of all, lots of cross curricular links!
Twinkl have a fantastic resource pack for a Roald Dahl Day which includes maths challenges, reading comprehensions and colouring sheets as well as a fact sheet about Roald Dahl.
The official Roald Dahl website has lesson plans, quizzes and a whole variety of ideas to help you bring the magic of Roald Dahl into your classroom. You can even get crafty with your class and learn how to make Whipple-Scrumptious Marshmallow Delight or Fizzy Lifting Drinks.
