How To Make Easy Home Made Ice Cream

Day 9 of Blogtober is here and today we are talking all about ice-cream and ice lollies.  It might seem a little odd to be talking ice-cream in October, but actually my children will happily eat it year round.  In fact it feels to them like more of a treat in the winter months than in the summer months. Probably because there is no ice-cream van trilling through our streets after August!  However, one of the biggest problems we have found is that Little Sir has a bit of a reaction to some ice-creams.  It started when he was 3!  He would have ice-cream – the whippy kind – and then immediately have a sore tummy and have to run to the toilet! Not fun for anyone.  So, in an effort to ensure that he could eat as much ice-cream as his sister, I came up with my easy home made ice cream recipe – and, if I do say so myself, it’s rather delicious!

How to make easy home made ice cream without any fussy equipment or specialist knowledge!

Now, before anyone starts mentioning ice-cream makers or technical bits and bobs, I can reassure you that this is the easiest home made ice-cream recipe in the world! It requires nothing more than the ingredients and something to pop it into. Oh and a freezer of course! But, there is no special equipment required! Even better, you can alter and change it at your will – so no need to have the same flavours each time – and it’s packed full of fruity goodness!!

How To Make Tasty Ice Cream At Home

Yield: 6 ice cream lollies

How To Make Tasty Ice Cream At Home

  • 4 Tablespoons of Runny Honey
  • 200g of Unsweetened Greek Yoghurt
  • Handful of Soft Fruits (can be either frozen or fresh!)

  1. First, put a layer of honey into the bottom of your container.
  2. Next, add a layer of greek yoghurt.
  3. Having washed your fruit, add a layer of soft fruit.
  4. Then add another layer of honey.
  5. Continue layering with honey, yoghurt and fruit until your container is full.
  6. End with a layer of yoghurt.
  7. Pop into the freezer for around 4 hours.
  8. Check the ice cream is frozen through and then enjoy!

So there you have it, super easy home made ice cream that can be made in minutes. We used lots of fresh fruit in ours, but we have since bought a bag of frozen soft fruits and will be using those up over the winter!

I’d love to know if you have any other home made ice cream recipes that we could try out! Let me know in the comments!

Ooooh, my kids would love it if the ice cream man came all year round! But at least with the home made ones I know my little man can eat them without us having stomach issues!! x

Ooh this sounds yummy, and easy even for me to manage! Our ice cream man is quite persistent (although not as much as Kim’s above) and keeps going until the end of October – but I might have managed to avoid telling my daughter what that jingle is! My mum used to tell me it was the butcher’s van!!

Blimey – that is persistent! Ours stopped as soon as the kids went back to school in September! I tell the kids that the jingle means the man has run out of ice cream!!! 🙂 🙂 x
