Mardles Magic Masks Review!

At age 6, Alex absolutely loves anything technology based as well as anything that requires his to use his imagination – so his utter joy when he discovered that we were going to review the fab Mardles Magic Masks was wonderful.  He was delighted to see that he had the choice of three different masks – a viking (which led to an interesting discussion about what a viking was!), a pirate (perfect for his 6th birthday party!) and his absolute favourite, a dragon!  As soon as we received them, he was tearing the packets open and demanding we download the free app to take loads of photos!

In each packet comes one mask – made of really tough and durable material which makes it perfect for kids to play with again and again. At only £3.99 each, I was really impressed with the quality. Each mask has a number of different slots to make it as big or small as you need, and we had no problem sizing each one for Alex and making sure it was comfortable on him!

Once you’ve got a Mardels Magic Mask on and downloaded the app (which is free!), then the fun begins!

We quickly discovered that if Alex stood still then the app would put an animation onto him but if he moved and made different shapes, then other things happened! I think we were both shocked and utterly delighted when he suddenly became a dragon and began to breathe fire!

We used the app in the traditional way of taking photos with me taking them and Alex bounding over every few seconds demanding to see what he looked like! However, we realised that he could turn the camera around and take selfies if he wanted to. The only problem we had with this is that he has quite short arms still so was struggling to get the whole of him into the photo!

We even realised that you could record videos on the app which were great fun and he really enjoyed being the different characters!  Having looked further into the app, we realised that once we had downloaded it then we didn’t even need wifi to make it work – which makes the masks a brilliant toy to take away on holiday with us.  I can see the children having a great time in the back of the car with them when we are travelling to Weymouth in a few weeks time.

We absolutely loved trying out Mardles Magic Masks and Alex has already decided that he needs to have some of his friends over so they can have one each and we can get lots of different photos of them.  I have a feeling that these fab masks are going to keep him and his friends entertained for a long time to come!

Disclosure: We were offered the masks to review in exchange for our honest opinion.  All thoughts, photos and ideas are our own.
