So, another thing that many people thought wouldn’t come to pass has! Brexit happened and now Donald Trump is the 45th President of the USA. On both occasions I went to bed fully expecting to wake up to normality, and on both occasions I have been left with a slightly sick feeling in my stomach. The question is, what do you do when the world has gone mad? Sit in a corner and wail at the world? Blame and curse and swear and disagree with the other half of the country? Get mad and get even? Well, even though all of those have their benefits, I’ve woken with a different mindset. Make sure my little piece of the world is as good as I can make it! I can’t control the rest of the world. Raging against decisions isn’t going to get me anywhere (although I might feel slightly better afterwards.) Worrying about the future, the type of world my children are going to grow up in, is very tempting, but worrying about something I can’t predict and can’t change seems quite futile. So I’m just making a pact with myself. To make sure that me and mine have the best possible life I can make. To only worry about the things I can change and try to push to one side those I can’t. I can’t fix the world but I can:
