Before I became a blogger, I literally had no idea about blogs. At all! I had heard of vloggers but only knew them as YouTubers – you know, the young hip types that seem to have more knowledge of fashion and beauty in their little fingers than I can ever hope to have in my whole life. But blogs? Nothing. When starting to adopt, I did a little googling (OK, a LOT of googling) in the hope of finding words of wisdom, or at least someone who had gone through what I was going through. That’s when I discovered blogs. Since then, I have stumbled upon, been pointed towards, and actively found, some great blogs. Fantastic writers with a great view point who are wonderful to read. So here, in no particular order, are my top 5 great blogs.
I know that I have mentioned Aby’s blog before, but I’m going to do so again as it is absolutely my go to blog for all things blogging. Not only does write brilliant, helpful articles, she also runs a few Facebook groups to help bloggers, as well as having her YouTube channel. Want to start a blog? You Baby Me Mummy is definitely the place to begin. However her blog also has a lifestyle slant where she writes about her life with her lovely daughter and reviews pertinent products. It’s definitely a great read!
Catie blogs over at Diary Of An Imperfect Mum. Her blog is insightful, thoughtful and thought provoking. She blogs about lifestyle and parenting with a slant towards parenting and autism. I love reading her blog – she talks with such openness about her children and the challenges and successes the family experience. I would say it is a must read for anyone but particularly for teachers who may have autistic children in their class – Catie has so many great points!
Donna’s blog was one of the first ones I stumbled across when I was first looking into blogging, and it’s one I go back to time and time again. Her posts are wonderfully written, and I always imagine that they are written with a smile! What The Redhead Said is a parenting and lifestyle blog, following Donna and her family as they grow up, have new experiences and discover exciting places to visit. Her reviews are honest, down to earth and balanced!
Gem blogs over at Life With Katie, which documents her family’s journey through adopting her two children Katie and Pip. When I was first considering adoption, this blog was an absolute lifeline for me. I read Gem’s blog from the very beginning, taking comfort in her words and feeling just a little bit less alone. Since adopting Little Miss and Little Sir, I go back to Gem’s blog on a regular basis, catching up with how her family is getting on, and taking on board some of her wisdom as to how she helps her own children cope with being adopted!
These are just a snapshot of the blogs I read on a regular basis and have been reading since the beginning. There are so many more absolutely brilliant bloggers out there, but if you are just starting out reading blogs, then these would be my go to reads!
I’d love to know of any other blogs you read on a regular basis which enhance your life in some way – it’s always great to find new bloggers to read!
